KONOBA is reffered to as the islands’ first social hub and entertainment destination, a place where people meet and enjoy the Seychelles other experience...Conceived by the architect and designer Albert Angel, the design was inspired by the underwater world as is apparent in the whimsical nautical motifs and blue lighting. Along the same line, the oceanic setting strikes the perfect balance with the restaurant’s Mediterranean-influenced island cuisine that ranges from fish and meat dishes prepared with the finest ingredients to gourmet desserts and pastries.

Boat models that have been spray-painted white line the a wall while a dazzling installation overhead spans the entire restaurant’s ceiling, resembling a school of fish swirling around and swimming in the deep ocean; steel pieces that look like fish scales cover the hull-shaped bar and reception desk, large room divider screens take the form of sails, chairs have the scoop seats that bring to mind the curves of a sailboat, and the wood-lined bathrooms, which recalls the interior of a ship....It’s worth a trek just to admire the striking interiors and fantastic light effects. With the use of innovative LED lighting, the restaurant can morph from a daytime resort into a trendy bar easily, and there’s nothing like looking around at the ocean-inspired space under aqua-blue lights, which gives the uncanny feeling of being submerged underwater. These remarkable efforts placed into the restaurant’s lighting design has Shortlisted KONOBA amongst the 6 Best for Restaurant and Bar Awards 2011 under the lighting category.
